5 Things To Learn: Davido’s Hijack of 2Face’s Boy, Damy Krane

The news of Tuface Idibia’s Hypertek young star Oyindamola Johnson Emmanuel aka Dammy Krane signing a deal under Davido’s Davido Music World, DMW, has left many of his fans bewildered rather than excited . Davido’s Snapchat, announced that Dammy Krane has joined the DMW family which already has young stars like Mayorkun, Dremo, Danagog and hina Rambo who doubles as the Chief Executive Officer.

Unveiling his artistes via Snapchat, Davido wrote: “DMW official roster – Mayorkun, Dremo, Danagog, Dammy Krane.”

Celeb Police looked at five things to note from the deal:

Damy Krane Is Not Ready To Pay His Dues: It has become a norm for entertainers to obey this sacred order of payment of dues. Except for few, there’s no artist in Nigeria as at now that doesn’t have a story to tell on how they struggled through thick and thin to get to where they are now but, it seems Damy Krane is seeking the shortest way of ‘arrival’. Everyone knows Davido has the money to make him who he has been dreaming of becoming.

Davido Is Clueless: Before rapper Olamide signed Adekunle Gold to YBNL, the sensational singer has released his first hit song, ‘Sade’. In fact, according to Adekunle, it was because the song was trending and has gone viral that caught the attention of Olamide and the rest they say is now a story. Now, both artistes are doing well with hits ‘back to back’. Aside the fact that Davido is yet to release any song since January this year, Damy Krane himself has been on hit drought for some time now after his efforts on ‘My Dear’ and ‘Amin’.

Sony Music/Davido’s Agreement Imbroglio: Since Davido signed with Sony Music in January this year, (the record label that has made Wizkid a worldwide star), davido’s agreement is still lock jammed.

He was supposed to release his first single with the record label early this month but, the release date was canceled, probably to make enough room for Wizkid to gain additional grounds.

Now, this unsettled Davido is signing Damy Krane who has been struggling to hit limelight since he signed with 2Face’s Hypertek Record Label in 2012.

Tuface’s Ingenuity Didn’t Reflect In Hypertek Record Label: He is regarded as the best of his kind from the African soil but, that is not reflecting in his record label. Don Jazzy’s Marvins Group,  Ubi/Iyanya’s MMG, YBNL, Emoney’s Five Star Music, Davido’s DMW and all other leading record labels in Nigeria still regards 2Face as ‘Baba’ (father) in music. But, as intelligent, talented and influential 2Baba is, it’s definitely not reflecting in his record label. This might have frustrated Damy Krane whose musical career has been redundant for years now.

The Bandwagon Effect: Davido’s DMW has under its label youthful quartet of B-Red, Mayorkun, Dremo and Shina Rambo, who are all doing well. Most guys in Damy Krane’s category would want the good life these guys are enjoying without bordering to know how they all got there. He too must have fallen for this flashy life due to his youthful exuberance
